The development of technology affect human life now has a dependency on the internet. Then what are the internet support network that became the basic elements in the smooth running of the Internet activity?

Based on the work area and the geographical layout of computer network differentiated into:

1. Local Area Network (LAN) Local Area Network (LAN)

virtual private network is a company that is limited only in the areas of corporate/organization of the course. For example, an existing Network in a room or in one building/campus/Office. Area of approximately 100 M.

2. Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) 

is basically a composite of multiple LAN network and space in scope are in one location/city. Areas can reach a distance of 50 KM. For example, a network that connects the Office with Office or building one with another building that is located far apart but still be in one location/city. The technology used to build a network MAN among others, ATM, Metro Ethernet, FDDI and some also use wireless for connection between the building.

4. Internet (interconnected networking) 

Internet (Interconnected networking) is an aggregation of the entire network of connected computers using standard TCP/IP protocol to serve the needs of users around the world. Its coverage area is almost the same as the WAN but has the distinction of side functions as explained above.

The DIFFERENCE of LAN, MAN, and WAN If you work with a computer that is not connected with another computer, then you are said to be working in Stand Alone. If your computer is connected to computers and other equipment, or form a group, the form of this relationship is termed network or network.

Based on its function, computer networks are divided into:
1. Network Client-Server Client-server Network is a computer network containing one or more computers that are acting as servers and provides services to every a client computer that is connected to the network.
2. Network peer to peer Networking Peer to Peer allows us to connect one computer with another computer without intermediaries such as switches. By using media such as cable and wireless, the computer the one with the other computers can communicate with each other and share resources.

Based on the distribution of the sources of information/data, computer networks are distinguished into: 

1. Centralized Networks

 

Is a network consisting of the client computer and the server computer where the client accessing sources of information/data in the form of a file or database that comes from a single computer server.

2. Distributed Networks

It is the merging of some centralized network so that there is some computer servers that are interconnected with the client to form a system in the network.

Based on the data transmission medium, a computer network in not to be:

1. The cable network (Wired network)

Is the transmission medium of computer networks in the form of cable that connects all computers or devices into the network.

2. Wireless network (Wireless network)

Is the transmission medium of computer networks in the form of waves as a replacement for media transmission cables to connect computer/device into the network.
